Biography 'Anton Nathrass' (SA)
Dedicated, passionate, sociable and knowledgeable, Anton injected a new enthusiasm into the SA dance scene by pouring every ounce of his creative energy into the dance floors he served.
His skills, knowledge and, above all, his unswerving passion for his art almost guarantee success. He has already played alongside the most talented DJ's the world has to offer whenever they have performed in SA, and his abilities have stood up to the test of legends.
As a DJ, Anton is technically superb and that gives him the confidence to produce live mixes that make other DJs stand and applaud as his crowd throws itself into a frenzied dance floor rapture. But it is the behind the scenes dedication that allows his natural talent to express itself so thoroughly. On top of practising his craft with an almost religious fervour, Anton’s dedication to the scene as a whole resulted in him launching SA’s first ever online vinyl store and being a founding partner in Elevate, a dance music record label and event company. Both DJ Lounge and Elevate were key components of the scene in SA and ensured that dance music became a staple diet for dancefloor disciples.
Anton plays an astonishingly versatile and highly interactive mix of electronic dance music that ebbs and flows with the energy of his dance floor, often taking clubbers on an ecstatic musical journey through the sounds and influences of progressive, uplifting and melodic beats. “I love the beauty that exists in the music I play and don't believe in pigeon holing my sets by being too genre specific” Anton says. “It works on several layers that sometimes have nothing to do with the splendour of the melody or the drive behind the beats. Often, the beauty lies in the way the crowd feels the music and reacts to the way I mix up the ebbs and flows.” Anton's online radio show "Digital Enlightenment" has been transformed into a "moonthly" podcast episode available to download and subscribe to on the iTunes podcast directory and will give fans the world over a "moonthly" taste of the sounds that Anton is exploring. Anton also features on the bill of nearly every major event and club night held in South Africa.
In conclusion, this South African light has got the talent, the skills, the passion, the sophisticated ear for a great tune and the ability to build an instant rapport with a crowd.
